Was (wer) ist C peptide - definition

PEPTIDE IN HOMO SAPIENS
C peptide; C-Peptide; C Peptide; C129H211N35O48

Natriuretic peptide precursor C
  • Structure of C-type natriuretic peptide (human)
PROTEIN-CODING GENE IN THE SPECIES HOMO SAPIENS
C-type natriuretic peptide; C-type Natriuretic Peptide; C type natriuretic peptide; Natriuretic peptide, c-type; Natriuretic peptide precursor c; NPPC (gene)
Natriuretic peptide precursor C, also known as NPPC, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NPPC gene. The precursor NPPC protein is cleaved to the 22 amino acid peptide C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP).
Nonribosomal peptide
CLASS OF PEPTIDE SECONDARY METABOLITES, USUALLY PRODUCED BY MICROORGANISMS LIKE BACTERIA AND FUNGI
Nonribosomal peptide synthetases; Nonribosomal peptide synthetase; Nonribsomal peptide synthetase; Nonribsomal peptide synthetases; Non-ribosomal peptide synthesis; Non-ribosomal peptide; Non-ribosomal peptides; Nonribosomal peptide synthase
Nonribosomal peptides (NRP) are a class of peptide secondary metabolites, usually produced by microorganisms like bacteria and fungi. Nonribosomal peptides are also found in higher organisms, such as nudibranchs, but are thought to be made by bacteria inside these organisms.
Peptide hormone
HORMONE THAT IS ALSO A PEPTIDE
Protein hormone; Peptide hormones; Receptors, peptide; Polypeptide hormone
Peptide hormones or protein hormones are hormones whose molecules are peptide, or proteins, respectively. The latter have longer amino acid chain lengths than the former.

Wikipedia

C-peptide

The connecting peptide, or C-peptide, is a short 31-amino-acid polypeptide that connects insulin's A-chain to its B-chain in the proinsulin molecule. In the context of diabetes or hypoglycemia, a measurement of C-peptide blood serum levels can be used to distinguish between different conditions with similar clinical features.

In the insulin synthesis pathway, first preproinsulin is translocated into the endoplasmic reticulum of beta cells of the pancreas with an A-chain, a C-peptide, a B-chain, and a signal sequence. The signal sequence is cleaved from the N-terminus of the peptide by a signal peptidase, leaving proinsulin. After proinsulin is packaged into vesicles in the Golgi apparatus (beta-granules), the C-peptide is removed, leaving the A-chain and B-chain bound together by disulfide bonds, that constitute the insulin molecule.
